Sunway Safaris is an African owned company that has been operating small group overland safaris in Southern Africa since 1994.
Indafrica Travel is the representative office for Sunway Safaris in New Zealand.
Botswana Safaris • Namibia Safaris • South Africa Safaris • Zambia Safaris • Zimbabwe Safaris • Malawi Safaris • Mozambique Safaris • All Sunway Safaris
Co-founders Bruce Taylor and Shaun Waring-Jones founded the company and still have a very hands-on role today. Sunway Safaris continues to be 100% African Owned and Operated and their small group safaris focus on getting travellers active and involved.
Each safari offers an experience full of adventure, incredible wildlife, scenic beauty and cultural interaction.
Sunway Safaris has offices in South Africa, Namibia and Botswana.
Small Group Safari Size: 12 passengers, 8 travellers on the Botswana Baobabs & all expeditions safaris run with 6 travellers.
Ages: the average age is 45 on all safari styles, with most travellers aged between 28 & 65+ years. The minimum age is 12 years and there is no maximum age limit, however, travellers over 65 will need a medical certificate saying they are fit to travel on the itinerary they have booked.
Guides: Groups are led by two Sunway Safari Guides (except the Expedition Safaris). Our guides are fully qualified and registered field guides (Field Guides Association of SA). They are also African born & bred or raised so you will be looked after by a local with expert knowledge.
No Surprises – Inclusive Prices
We understand you will have a budget for your safari and you don’t want any surprises. When Sunway plans their routes they make sure you will see and experience the highlights without having to pay extra when you get there.
When booking a Sunway Safari all of the entrance and park fees are included, a wide range of activities, your accommodation and most meals. Gratuities for cultural reasons are not included but we can provide our travellers with detailed guidelines. We also provide you with guide pricing for optional activities such as scenic flights so that you budget with confidence.

Limited Participation vs No Participation – what does it mean?
Limited participation: Guides will shop and prepare meals and provide assistance but travellers will put up their tent (on camping safaris), help pack away in the morning, or do things such as chopping tomatoes for a salad or stirring a pot. The group does the dishes on a rotation basis. Sunway’s Camping, Expedition and Affordable Accommodated Safaris require limited participation.
Non Participation: Breakfasts and evening meals will generally be at your lodge accommodation with your guides shopping, preparing and serving lunches. No assistance is required from the group, but where portering is not available expect to take your bags to and from your room. Sunway’s Classic Journeys are non-participation safaris.
Sunway can offer private safaris. Price-wise it works out best with a minimum group size of 6, however, we will quote based on smaller groups. There are no age limits. Please contact us if you are interested in a private safari.
No Single Supplement Applies if a single traveller is willing to share with a same-gender traveller on Camping & Accommodated overland safaris. A supplement is payable for those wanting their own tent/room or those booking on a “Classic Journey” safari.
