India Cycle Trails specialise in the non-traditional way of exploring the rich cultural heritage of India. Their focus is on “local experiences” and interactive holidays.
They offer travel experiences from the Mighty Himalayas in the North to the Palm-fringed beaches of the South. From the Ethnic Tribes of the North-East to the colourful Thar Desert of Western India
India Cycle Trails is headed up by Digvijay (Divi) Singh, a 17 year veteran of adventure travel in the Indian subcontinent. The main office is located in Dehradun, the capital of the state of Uttarakhand.
Indafrica is proud to have been appointed as the New Zealand wholesale travel representative.
The India Cycle Trails Experience
From the moment your tour starts with collection from the airport to the time you depart, you will be looked after by the India Cycle Trails team – they are the local tour operator.
Each itinerary is carefully crafted to ensure that you not only see the best sights but also get a insight into Indian life at a local level. Accommodation is carefully selected to add to the experience.
Itineraries include beautiful heritage stays, well appointed hotels and lesser known beach resorts, boutique plantation stays and wildlife resorts and homestays.
Cycle hire is included on each tour and India cycle trails own their own fleet of cycles that set up for cycling touring in India. Find out more about your tour bike.
Most meals are included and are either eaten at your accommodation or local restaurants and cafes. On a number of days lunches are prepared by our team, picnic style. Picnic lunches include seasonal fruits, local snacks (Samosa, Kachori, Biscuits, Namkeen), Soups, tea, coffee and soft drinks.
We also know that it is important for cyclists to stay well hydrated so we stop regularly to re-hydrate with bottled water, fruit juices. These stops also give us a chance to regroup and chat about what we have seen along the way.
Set Departures – Join In Tours
The following itineraries all depart on set dates with a minimum of 4 cyclists and a maximum of 10-15 cyclists (itinerary dependent). Some dates are set to coincide with particular local events/festivals.
Each day you will cycle usually cycle between 3-5 hours on quiet country roads led by one of our cycling guides with full back up vehicle support should anyone wish to rest their legs.
Some sections are off the bike and travelled in the support bus. This is to keep you safe and off busy stretches of road and allows us to cover some of the longer travelling days in comfort where cycling the whole way would not be an option.
All itineraries are also available as private tours with a minimum or 2 people. Maximum numbers depend on the itinerary as some routes stay in boutique properties with a smaller number of guest rooms. In addition India Cycle Trails also offer a number of other routes as private tours that can be either a stand alone tour or part of longer India travel itinerary.
