Adventure Camping Safaris

What you need to know:

You will sleep in large domed canvas tents (2.2m x 2.2m x 1.8)m with built-in insect nets.  Camp mattresses are supplied that are 5cm thick.  On most trips you will need to supply your own sleeping bag/pillow or you can hire one when you book your safari.

On limited participation safaris, you put up and put down your own tent.  Once you know the drill it takes about 5 minutes.

Depending on the itinerary you will mostly stay in designated campsites in national parks, private reserves and in towns.  These normally have good facilities with hot showers electricity and often a bar & restaurant.  In some areas, facilities may be more basic.

In Botswana, Sunway Safaris uses private wild campsites in the National Parks & Reserves.   When wild camping there are no facilities and your guides will set up a bucket shower tent with water warmed on the camp fire and a pit toilet (with a toilet seat!) tent.  When we wild camp we take everything in with us and take everything out - leaving no trace of our stay.

Some itineraries include accommodated nights in guest houses and lodges.  These are modest, clean, comfortable places to stay.  You will either have an ensuite bathroom or on occasions, you will need to share bathrooms.

Each itinerary has full details.
